The masterplan for the former Lec site has been formally endorsed via the grant of planning consents for the proposed Sainsbury’s supermarket from the Secretary of State and outline consent for the Retained Land Scheme by Arun District Council. This allows for comprehensive regeneration of the whole site.
The “core” land use will comprise the proposed Sainsbury’s supermarket, together with ancillary facilities, on 8 acres of land acting as the “anchor” occupier in order to enable viable redevelopment of the rest of the site via the remediation of the land and provision of new access from the A29.
SDLL will retain about 2.5 acres of land which has outline consent for mixed employment uses.
